Chemical properties

Production process
Made from acetylene and formaldehyde in the presence of a catalyst to make 1,4-butynediol, and then catalytic hydrogenation. It can also be made from 1,3-butadiene with acetic acid and oxygen by acetyl oxidation, hydrogenation, hydrolysis and other reactions.
Packaging and storage and transportation

Use
1,4-Butanediol is widely used in the production of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), tetrahydrofuran (THF), gamma-butyrolactone (GBL), N-methyl-pyrrolidone (NMP), N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP), polyurethane resin (PU) and high-performance elastic fiber SPANDEX (spandex), and other fine chemicals with high added value. It is widely used as solvents, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, plasticizers, curing agents, pesticides, herbicides, foams for leather, fibers, engineering plastics, etc.
